Planning for the future means making conscious decisions now
Rather than being preoccupied with day-to-day events, take a step back and look to the larger prospects
In the bible we can find the wisdom of Future Planning in....
Proverbs 6:6-8 “Go to the ant, O Sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise. Without having any chief, officer, or ruler, she prepares her bread in summer and gathers her food in harvest.” It is good to plan ahead so that our lives are in order and maintain balance. Your needs will be met when you plan ahead.
Proverbs 27:23 “Know well the condition of your flocks, and give attention to your herds.” Pay attention to your finances and your investments. You need to know where your money is going and how much you are saving.
Spirituality is a broad concept with room for many perspectives. In general, it includes a sense of connection to something bigger than ourselves, and it typically involves a search for meaning in life. As such, wondering what is beyond includes our future and therefore natural for us to want to prepare and be ready.
Thinking about the future is a universal human experience—time, changes and aging are something that touches us all. People may see this transition as a spiritual experience and therefore regard Future Planning as sacred or transcendent exercise. Or simply it can help provide a deep sense of aliveness and interconnections to unknown possibilities that have a better chance of being reached or realized when planned for.
Some may find that their spiritual life and future is intricately linked to their association with a church, temple, mosque, or synagogue. If so, consider how you intend to contribute and become more proactive in your future. Others may pray or meditate about the future and find comfort in a personal relationship with God or guidance from a higher power. Still others seek meaning through their connections to nature or art.
Liken the future and your planning for it with your personal sense of purpose and how you can enhance and better define it. Your personal definition of spirituality may change throughout your life, adapting to your own experiences and relationships that change and evolve over time as the future unfolds.
