The 80s Podcast (www.80sPodcast.com) Almost anything that was synth-poppy in 1981 was considered part of the new romantic scene. You can tell from the dress sense of groups at the time that they were happy to be attached to it. However, by 1982 everyone involved with that scene tried to ditch being labelled as such.
